Best MOBA and Arena Fighting Games for Android

MOBAs are a relatively new type of mobile game. For those who don’t know, MOBA stands for Multiplayer Online Battle Arena. They came from a huge following on PC including League of Legends and DOTA 2. The genre is so popular that many sites cover it as a sport and teams can compete for real cash prizes.

The style of play is quite straightforward. You and the other players must invade and side with the opposing team. The MOBA market on Android isn’t big yet, but there are a few decent titles to choose from. The big three right now are Arena of Valor, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Vainglory, so we recommend the former. Honestly, we also think Onmyoji Arena is up there as well. Here are the best MOBAs for Android!

The best MOBAs for Android

Arena of Worth

Price: Free to play

Arena of Valor is one of the newer MOBAs by comparison. There is a lot to like about it. It offers five-on-five, three-on-three, and one-on-one game modes. Plus, there are over three dozen heroes, ten-minute matches, co-op multiplayer, and more. This one launched alongside the Razer Phone and gained popularity quite quickly. Some have bemoaned the Facebook connection. Otherwise, we haven’t heard a ton of complaints about this game. Like most MOBAs, some heroes can be obtained through in-app purchases.

Brawl Stars or Battle Bay

Price: Free to play

Brawl Stars and Battle Bay are two much lighter MOBAs. Brawl Stars is a new game from Supercell, creator of Clash of Clans, Clash Royale and Boomb Beac. Battle Bay is from Rovio and everyone knows Rovio. These games aren’t necessarily hardcore MOBAs at first glance. However, they contain enough MOBA elements to consider them as part of the genre. These games have a much lighter tone than the other MOBAs on this list. Of course, the lighter tone means less intense and straightforward playing. If that appeals to you, give it a try.

Heroes Arena

Price: Free to play

Heroes Arena is a less popular, but still pretty decent MOBA. The game offers 1v1, 3v3 and 5v5 modes so you can choose the length of your matches. Plus, there’s the usual lineup of heroes, a reasonably decent level of pre-game customization, and a few other things. The game attempts a faster playstyle by allowing players to do things like purchase equipment in the middle of battle without returning to base. The game is surprisingly easy and maybe a little too easy. It’s a decent option for those new to the genre.

Evolved heroes

Price: Free to play

Heroes Evolved is a pretty popular MOBA. It also has some of the most unique features. The base experience is also quite good. It features over 40 heroes, a clan system, short match options, and more. It also includes a Chaotic Strike game mode. You have no mana to manage and faster cooldowns. It’s actually quite fun. There isn’t a ton of MOBAs like this. It might even be good for eSports someday.

League of Legends: Savage Rift

Price: Free to play

League of Legends: Wild Rift is already incredibly popular and isn’t even available worldwide yet. The game features five-on-five combat with many of the same elements as the PC version of the game. There are different heroes to unlock, different strategies to use in battle, and you can earn each champion for free if you play long enough. Unfortunately, and in the interest of full disclosure, I haven’t been able to test this one yet as it won’t launch in the US until 2021. However, according to other people’s reviews, it belongs to this list as one of the best of its kind.

MARVEL Super War

Price: Free to play

MARVEL Super War is created by the same developers as Onmyoji Arena and features some of the same elements. The game is only available in certain parts of the world and you can see the full list here. The heroes of the game are MARVEL super heroes. You can collect over 50 of them and use them in battle. The mechanics look pretty good, but it’s also not available in the US at the time of this writing, so I haven’t been able to test it personally. However, reviews from others make it seem like a really good MOBA. This one should get a global launch eventually, too, so keep an eye out for that.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

Price: Free to play

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is one of the oldest MOBAs on mobile. In terms of number of downloads, it’s also the most popular. The game features five-on-five fights, simple controls, ten-minute matches, and more. The Google Play description offers matchmaking wait times of ten seconds. It’s a bit of a stretch. Everything else is top notch, however. Disconnected players can join the same battle. We thought it was pretty cool. It is certainly one of the best MOBAs.

Onmyoji Arena

Price: Free to play

Onmyoji Arena is NetEase’s MOBA with its Onymoji series serving as a character base. It works a lot like other MOBAs, but with a few unique differences. This one has a three vs three vs three triple battle royale mode which is surprisingly fun and chaotic. The game has a history of issues with AFK players and occasional loading issues, but overall it’s a positive experience.

Planet of heroes

Price: Free to play

Planet of Heroes is a booming MOBA. In terms of functionality, this is pretty decent. The game features three difficulty modes for AI combat, RPG elements, three-on-three combat, and seven-minute match times. It’s probably not good enough for esports. He looks a bit too casual for that. However, there is a lot of potential for him to become this hardcore. You can play as often as you like and the developers boast about an experience that is as fair as any. It is also one of the few MOBAs to offer a single player campaign mode. Cared for!

Price: Free to play

Vainglory exploded onto the mobile scene in 2015 and is easily among the most popular mobile MOBAs. He has a list of over 25 heroes. It’s a pretty decent selection. Matches can last seven minutes for quick games. There is also an option for 25 minute matches for all day slugfests. In terms of mechanics and gameplay, Vainglory offers 60fps gaming and 30ms control responsiveness. This works well enough for die-hard MOBA fans. It’s one of the most popular MOBAs on Android for a reason. Its popularity also makes match wait times quite low.
