SuperGaming, the developer behind popular online multiplayer titles like Silly Royale and Mask Guns, announced the first Indian-made battle royale game “Indus” last month. Although the company didn’t reveal much at the time, it recently shared several new details about Indus, including the game’s story, main character’s name, map, gun, and more. So let’s see what to expect.
Industry: here’s what we know
If you missed our last Indus story, know that the game will be based on Indian culture and myths. Now, nearly a month after the game’s introduction, SuperGaming has revealed the name of the character players will play as. Additionally, the company shared that the game will be based on Indian lore with some twists. Moreover, some technical details about the title, playable on mobile, PC and consoles, have also been revealed in the official blog.
Story, character, map and weapons
It was revealed that you will play as a character named Mythwalker (header image), who is a mercenary for an intergalactic syndicate called COVEN. The space organization has discovered a new scientifically advanced planet called Indus, which contains “a natural wealth that changes lives” called Cosmoium and “constantly changing islands”. All battles in the game will be take place on one of the ever-changing islands of the Indus, named Virlok.
Apart from these, SuperGaming has also shared an early concept gun that may be available for use in Indus. The gun is called Ashvini, and it’s a double-barreled sniper rifle which looks a lot like Respawn’s Apex Legends Mobile Triple Take. Check out the image below to get an idea of what it might look like in-game. We can expect the game to have a number of weapons and details on more of them might be revealed soon.
Additionally, it has been confirmed that Indus will be a free-to-play title and will come with in-app purchases. Although SuperGaming said it was considering introducing a battle pass for the game, it has not confirmed whether Indus will get seasonal battle passes during its lifecycle.
Indus Battle Royale game: technical details
As for the technical details, the developer revealed that Indus will run on Unity as the base engine with a custom sandbox shooter tech stack called industrial engine. The game will also focus on anti-cheat measures and SuperGaming has promised that it will monitor and act on unusual in-game activity to provide fun and fair gameplay for everyone.
The company also mentioned that Indus is currently playable in FPP (first person perspective) mode. However, SuperGaming aims to enable FPP and TPP (Third Person Perspective) modes in the game once it is released. It should reach the masses this year.
This is all we know about the Indus so far. There is also an Indus Creator Program, which you can join to access exclusive details about the game ahead of its official launch, details of which are expected soon.
