Overwatch 2 battle pass unveiled: how it works, levels, rewards

Blizzard has unveiled a brief preview of the Overwatch 2 battle pass which will be available from the game’s launch and refreshed each season. In addition to revealing the battle pass in June 2022 and how it will work, Blizzard ran through the details for the start of Season 1 and Season 2 for the shooter.

The studio aims to make Overwatch 2 an ever-living and ever-evolving game, so features like the Battle Pass and how microtransactions work likely won’t change drastically from when the game launches. However, we should, hopefully see the rewards evolve and grow as each new season is introduced every nine weeks.

Below, you can find an overview of what’s in the Overwatch 2 Battle Pass. We also cover how you can expect to rank it and the differences between free and premium tracks.

Overwatch 2 Battle Pass

Overwatch 2’s battle pass will include 100 tiers of content through the in-game character roster. There are both free and premium versions of the Battle Pass.

These the battle pass tiers each contain a reward and there are a few select free items, most of which are locked behind the premium battle pass.

From an early screenshot during the Overwatch 2 live stream on June 16, we can see that there are three free rewards and eight premium rewards in the first 10 tiers of the pass. These levels are a work in progress, so they may not represent the final version. The majority of these items are rare, with common and uncommon rewards to be earned.

The rewards for this battle pass include skins, emblems, voice lines, weapon charms, emotes, and poses for in-game characters. We can also see an XP boost which it looks like.

You’ll rank up the Overwatch 2 Battle Pass by completing weekly challenges rather than just earning XP, which could mean you’ll have to check in regularly. This should give you time to complete the challenges before they expire at the end of a nine-week season.

This covers everything we know about the Overwatch 2 Battle Pass right now. For more on the game, be sure to check out our Overwatch 2 tier list to see which heroes you should unlock rewards for.
