PUBG season 11 brings Paramo back to the battle royale game

A familiar sight returns to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds with the start of Season 11 of the ranked game. The PUBG team has released the Patch 11.1 patch notes on their website, and among them we see Paramo making a comeback this coming season. The update is also available on the PTR on PC, so you can try it out to see what it’s all about.

You can play Paramo in normal and custom matches, although we say goodbye to Haven and Karakin. Paramo still has its random elements, but you will notice that an additional random location is now possible. The developers have also increased the spawn rates of the Secret Chamber and the Healing Helicopter, while the fields now have more cover.

The PUBG team also explains that they are limiting the number of playable maps to five as of Update 11.1. While the party likes to create new maps, they make matchmaking and map rotation a “pretty tough job.” The developer adds, “We know our players have very different tastes when it comes to map sizes, but the consensus has generally been in favor of large 8 × 8 maps.

“For this reason, Erangel and Miramar will still be available, with the remaining cards going in and out of the remaining three slots. The cycling maps also give us the opportunity to work on them a bit for their return. For Update 11.1, Paramo will replace Karakin in the rotation.

We’re also getting a new feature this season called Emergency Pickup. Essentially, you send a giant fulton balloon into the sky and drive it to the center of the safe zone when it attaches to a plane. Neato.

Season 11 marks the start of a new runtime for each season. Now they will run for two months at a time and no longer align with Survivor Passes. Adjustments have been made to the Ranked Rewards table to compensate for this.

“Players use the rank emblem rewards a lot, especially in the higher ranks and we have found that most players tend to use the emblem from the more recent season, rather than older seasons,” explains a member of the PUBG team. “So to better showcase and represent your recent Ranked Achievements, Ranked Emblems and similar symbolic rewards will now only be available for the season in which you received the rewards. Ranked skin rewards are always permanent items available for use in any season.

You will also notice that the weapon spawn rates in ranked mode have increased to be similar to esport mode on all maps. As such, item spawns increased from 30% to 40% to reduce the time spent looting.

Weapons also get a Balance Pass, with Mini-14, VSS, and SCAR-L damage increased. If you want to see the notes in full, you can find them on the PUBG website.
