Splitgate continues to be a global phenomenon. It even secured a spot on Gamescom’s opening night live when the game’s season zero was announced and then launched. With such success, it obviously wins a large pool of players, some of whom are asking for the addition of a battle royale mode in the future. For now though, that doesn’t appear to be something the developers at 1047 Games are keen to do.
Responding to a fan on Twitter, the team said they have “no plans for Battle Royale on the horizon,” and although they have a “never say never philosophy for most features.” , she slips into the “don’t hold your breath category”.
Despite the requests, a surprising number of fans actually seem to want the opposite. The most appreciated response is for someone to ask the team not to add any at all, with a few more responses echoing that opinion.
It’s quite refreshing to have a multiplayer game that doesn’t meet modern multiplayer standards. There’s something about Splitgate that feels very retro and reminds us of those Xbox 360 days when we’d be up until the early hours of the morning playing. Halo 3. As long as he keeps that in mind, we’ll probably stick around.
